Authors Supporting Authors: Epic Fantasy w/Cassadra Fear!

Epic.
Fantasy. Adventure.

That's how author Cassandra Fear describes her latest publication, and I couldn't be any more excited.

I'm please to write a blurb about an amazing author with a novel with IMMENSE potential. I'm a big fan of epic fantasy in general, so I may be a teeny weeny bit biased due to the genre; however, I cannot deny the striking premise and intense cover. I'm pleased to talk about Cassandra Fear's latest work: "Land of Strength and Sorrow" [CaDaVa publishing].

This must have taken forever to write! So, I asked her:

C: This one took about 3 months to write, and a few more months before editing was done. I'm surprised how fast the words came out, and the second book was just the same.

As soon as she mentioned "second book", I HAD to ask how many she was planning:
C: ...Five books are planned so far, but there might be more. Since I made my own world, there are so many places I can go, including spin-offs and such. I'm really excited for this series!

This is VERY true. When an author creates his/her own world, you can't just abandon it with one book! The scope goes beyond one plot when you have rich characters and fresh setting!

So, WHO would best enjoy this, you ask? Well, I say ANYONE who has half a brain and imagination  but I figured I'd get the scoop (and she answers it more nicely):
C: I would say anyone. It's an older YA, but the second book has more adult themes, and the range of characters is all over the place. I mean, there are Kobolds, Fairies, Giants, Dwarves (but they come more in book two) Frost and Fire Mages, old magic, sorceresses. If you like the adventure fantasy, like Lord of the Rings, you might just get into this. Although there aren't any hobbits.

Darn....I like hobbits.... XD

I don't have a Kindle! BAH! When can I expect a hardcopy? (hard/softcover)?
C: Soon. I'm not 100% sure when, but it won't be long now that the ebook is out. And both paperback and hardcover will be available for purchase across all platforms, even in some bookstores.

BOOKSTORES?!? Holy moly. I'm jealous! Like, in a healthy way..... *shifty eyes*... Kidding. I will bother Cassandra later for store names so I can go take a picture because I'm THAT much of a dork. Besides, I can't be the only one would would rather buy a book at a BOOKSTORE than on the internet... C'mon. That fresh book smell?

I currently am following her other work: the Above the Flames trilogy. Two out of three books are out. While, I am patiently waiting, I decided to ask how her experiences differed....
C: Well, The Flames Trilogy was my first series, and while it is in the fantasy genre, it is more paranormal and based in our world. Orendor is a new world, and it's one I made up. There are different towns inside, and there are big cities, each with its own castle and King/Queen. Making my own world, well, it's something I fell completely in love with, and this is a more traditional fantasy in that sense, whereas The Flames is more Paranormal.

It's clear, Cassandra Fear is a name to be reckoned with in the fantasy realm. Please tell me your ways!
C: Shoot. I don't know much about success, yet. I'm learning. You have to put the work in. You have to ask for help. And you have to help others. If I see an author promoting a book on Facebook, or Twitter for that matter, I share their post. In turn, people share mine. Eventually, readers will notice your posts going around.

The biggest thing is this: Keep writing, no matter how hard it gets, or how horrible you think your WIP is. An editor can fix that (which I know because I'm also an editor). But, never, ever look at other authors as competition. They aren't. They are colleagues and friends, and learning that early on will help you surround yourself with a team of people who want to be there through the good times and the bad.

I really appreciate her last bit of advice. It's true, all authors are  colleagues and in it together.
Hence MY personal mission to support local/independent etc authors and artists!
