In celebration of the holiday season, I’m participating in the wonderful Jenna Moreci’s writing tag!
Jenna Moreci’s blog The tag is “The Naughty List.” I have to answer the questions on the tag using the characters from my current WIP, and not use a character more than twice. My WIP is entitled The Aeonians. An ancient evil breaks free from imprisonment and challenges a young Princess' ability and confidence to rule her country. As she hones her abilities of her magical armlet, she forges alliances and battles through seemingly impossible odds. This is the first time I am evening mentioning my WIP on this blog- what a great way to introduce it! This has been in the making since NaNoWriMo 2014. So here are the questions! #1 Which character would get wasted at a holiday party and end up humping the Christmas tree? Benjamin. Oh, poor Benjamin. A castle guard at Deranian Palace, he is an energetic fella' who is very laid back for a soldier. I mean, he is the one teaching the protagonist, Princess Isabel, to swordfight and essentially kick ass behind the King and Queen's back. Being so fun loving, I wouldn't be surprised if he let loose at the holiday party and totally forget his manners. So- after the royal family discovers his Christmas tree lovemaking, he tossed in the dog house. But of course Isabel is probably laughing her butt off about it. #2 Which character deserves to get the crap beaten out of ‘em by the Krampus? Echidna no doubt. She is one baddie. Mother of the primary antagonist (Yeah, I have a thing for multiple antagonists), she is not just physically ruthless, but a serial manipulator. Seriously, when I was writing her, I feared the worst. I created a character with no damn soul. #3 Which character is the Grinch this year? Echinda's hubby, Damian. No sense of humor and just a plain brute. He really would steal candy from a baby. Or food from his hundreds of children. Oh, how was he able to produce offspring like some rabbit? Well, you are going to have to read to find out why! But seriously, I can picture him throwing a temper tantrum after being defeated and just stealing everyone's toys just to be a jerk. #4 Which character would try to get a little too friendly while sitting on Santa’s lap? Victoria. She counts, right? She is Princess Isabel's late sister. But she was a notorious flirt. She even spent most of her teen years vying after Isabel's friend and love interest, Dante. He is the leader of one of the prominent tribes in Deran. Victoria is a shmoozer, suck up- whatever you want to call it. So, if she were alive, I wouldn't put it past her to try and flirt her way to a nice present. Maybe a shiny new necklace.... With a ring to match... Well, bracelets too to complete the set. #5 Who would your antagonist most like to tongue beneath the mistletoe? Princess Isabel, all the way. Seriously, when he blackmails her into traveling with him (again, if you are asking WHY, you will just have to find out!), I'm pretty sure he took a couple sneak peeks at her rear. Oops, did I say that? While Isabel may not be too fond of him, Bence hasn't seen an eligible maiden in a while either. So, Isabel it is.... Oh shoot. I just realized I blabbed on and on without giving Bence a proper introduction. That was rude. Bence is my favorite. :)A ginger with emerald eyes, he is the firstborn of Damian and Echidna. He was raised to be the leader of their army called the Aeonians to take back the Deranian kingdom from Isabel's family. He's rough and tough but something tells me a beautiful warrior Princess will knock him off his feet. (Literally and metaphorically) <3 awwwwwwwssss..... #6 Which character would accidentally tip the menorah and light the house on fire? Aysu hands down. She is a tiny maid who serves Dante. They both belong to a race called the Tuuli. She is hyper, chatty, and extremely clumsy. So this was a no brainer. I can see her fluttering about, worrying herself into a tizzy to ensure everything goes well until...Uhoh... Anyone got a fire extinguisher? #7 Which character is most likely to bring magic brownies to a holiday party? Adem. He is the leader of another tribe- the Dunyans. They are a large reptilian race that loves to party. And party hard. I'm sure they have lots of fun herbs to go around at Deranian parties. (Not that the King and Queen would approve of that...) #8 Which character is most likely to ring in the new year naked? And why the hell are they naked in the first place? Bwahaha...Do I dare do this? King Hadi! I only say that because behind that gruff, professional exterior is a fun loving teddy-bear of a guy. Especially if he has a little too much wine. Wine is his downfall. It makes his clothes disappear. Disgusted by the imagery yet? I can keep going... #9 Which character is absolutely kidding themselves by insisting they belong on the nice list? I would say, Bence's twin brother Farid. Yeah, yeah, I said Bence was the first born. And technically he was...by a minute or so. Anyway this guy is a smooth operator but extremely sadistic. But I can just hear him whining away that he doesn't deserve coal because he was "only following his parent's orders". Pathetic. #10 Which characters would readers be most shocked to find on the naughty list? Sadly, I think I would say Dante. This is Princess Isabel's love interest. Don't get me wrong, he's not a "bad guy", per se. But he has a dark side tucked away- he was lowborn and fought his way to leader of his tribe. And that didn't come without scars. His perfect facade starts to crack when he hears about Isabel and Bence... Oh la la. DRAMA. *Dusts off hands*. Okay, and there you have it. The juicy dirt on my characters misbehaving this holiday season! It's silly, but extremely fun and a great way to kick off the long journey of my WIP, The Aeonians. From now on, stay posted for updates on my progress with the novel. I am currently having it read by betas. However, if anyone reads this and is interested in taking it for a test drive, message me! Have a safe and happy holiday!!! Thanks for the tag, Corrine!
