Fast Facts:

Title: Dream Girl
Author: S.J. Lomas
Genre: YA Fantasy
Rating: 5 stars

When the concept of reality changes forever, dream by dream.

I said it in my Amazon and Goodreads review, and I'll say it again: I inhaled this book. I wasn't 100% sure what to expect from the title at first, but the plot took me by the hand and yanked me through a wild adventure that can only be conjured up by dreams!

"Dream Girl" puts you, the reader, in the driver's seat with Christine, whose dreams literally morph into reality after meeting the brooding male lead, Gabriel.  The novel begins fairly light, like any pleasant YA story. While maintaining a steady pace and short chapters (which I'm a fan of due to my attention span the size of a flash cube), "Dream Girl" unfurls into twists that I hadn't expected. The concept of this novel reminds me ever so slightly of the movie "Inception"-- and I hope I don't regret saying that because I mean this in a purely complimentary way; however, I don't want ANYONE purchasing this book to expect it to be another version of it. No. "Dream Girl" has the muscles to stand on its own, and I promise you it's unique in it's own right.

Characters: Christine was very fun to follow. I dislike female leads that play to either end of the stereotype spectrum: damsel in distress and the feminist so fierce, she will-rip-your-throat-out-if-you-look-at-her-funny. Her personality and actions were believable and likable. As far as Gabriel... At first I thought he was going to come off as a bit too emo, but his chapters break through the two-dimensional trap. And although his feelings for Christine caught on like wildfire, I'm certainly anxious to see what happens between the two in the next novel. Second to Christine, Leo is my next favorite- but I'll stop here due to spoilers.

The conflict and main antagonist comes into the story a little later on, but I was so entranced by figuring out what's going on that it didn't bother me. The ending itself was solid and set up the premise for the sequel beautifully.

Overall, I was wicked impressed by "Dream Girl". It took me by suprize- I finished it in one day!

I recommend this to YA readers, especially those who like a little mystery, adventure, and well-balanced romance.
